Intro
Right, the reason that I created this tutorial is because I haven't seen one DK tutorial out there that is actually directed towards brand new players or low level ones. I wanted to help the newer players that dont have high level characters already. As to me this makes a tutorial useless, because by the time you have a high level character you know whats what and don't even need a tut.
So lets start this off. You've just created your new DK. Your placed in a strange place and don't know where you are. Well this link shown below will show a decent over view of the map you are now on.
http://www.muchina.com/image/map/map02b.jpg
I know its in chinese but its much more helpful than the one shown on the english mu online site. But I'll
explain it to make it all clear.
The Coloured Jewels:
Green: The Peddler - This NPC sells apples, potions and leather armour.
Pink: Potion Girl - She sells arrows/bolts and healing potions.
Orange: Bar Tender - She sells alcohol and town portal scrolls.
Blue: Wizard NPC - This guy only sells wizard equipment.
Yellow: Weapons NPC: As stating the obvious, he sells a varity of weapons of all types.
Pale Yellow: Weapons&Armour NPC: Sells higher leveled weapons and armour than available in town.
Please read the MU website, will save me time explaining stuff, but if you I've left something out that I mention that isn't covered on the games site.
You start right in the center of the town called Lorenica. This is the starting town for Dark Knights and Dark Wizards. Walk around the town (stay within the walls for now) to get use to the place, look at the
NPCs to familarize yourself with the town so you konw where to go to get stuff later.
Right as you can see from the map, there are 4 exits to the town. The one you want to head towards is the one that is to the south, the one that leads to the peddlers (the green jewel). When you leave here equip your hand axe (your supplied with this when you start). Now your ready to fight.
Your first kills:
To attack a creature move your cursor over a monster (when its an enemy the cursor will change in shape) now single left click the monster. You will proceed to attack it, the dmg that you deal will be shown above the creatures head, the damage that is dealt to yourself will be shown above yours.
When you first start off at level only kill spiders, they red dragon-like creatures are too tough for you are this stage.
Continue to kill spiders till you level up. Collect any zen and items that drop from your kills. When you level up a sprial of fire will appear around you for a moment. If you then press "C" your character profile will apper, at the top it will now say your new level (in this case being two and then the amount of exp that you have and will need till you reach your next level).
The leveling Process(Level 2):
Now you have got 100exp, you will be now level 2. Everytime you level you will get 5 stat points to assign how you like. Each stat does different things.
Str: this will increase your dmg done
Agil: this will increase your defence and also your attack speed.
Vitality: this will increase your hitpoints
Energy: this will increase your stamina.
Adding Stats:
Well, this is an important part of making your character, as your stats affect things such as what armour and weapons you can wear and also your ability to kill. For your first level I would advice adding your 5 free points to strength. This is important because you want to be able to wear armour as soon as possible.
The quicker your wearing armour, the quicker you can progress to hard creatures.
What next?:
Well, now you have assigned your stats, you can spend the cash you have aqquired. I personally would suggest spending this on apples (so you can heal, press "Q" while fighting to heal yourself). Only buy a few, if you have any more money save it for now. If you've found weapons and armour that you can use, put
them on otherwise just sit tight (dont worry your not expected to have armour yet).
Leveling Process (level 3):
Well, like you did to gain your last level kill spiders, you should notice now that the amount of damage that you are dealing is higher now you have increased your strength. Continue to kill spiders and collect whatever drops from them. Don't move on to Budge Dragons yet your not ready.
Right, once you have leveled up to level 3 again I would suggest adding your stats to to str again. Hopefully by now you will have enough gold to buy either a weapon (from the npc in town) or some leather.
You will see what you can wear by the statics shown when you place your cursor over the item your intrested in. Buy what you can afford, I'd go for a weapon as this will increase your killing speed thus meaning you gain exp faster as your killing faster. Also buy more apples if you need too.
Leveling Process (level 4):
Do the same as last level killing spiders, you should be killing these quite fast now compared to when you first started. Kill them till you level.
Now that you are level 4, once again add your stats to strength and you should of at least bought one or two of the leather items. You should be able to move on to Budge Dragons now (you'll need apples for these at first)
Leveling Process (level5):
Mix it up, kill spiders and dragons as you find them while hunting, if you see anythings else, move away they will either kill you in a couple of hits or wont be worth your time and apples. Continue like last time till you have leveled.
Add your stats again to str, buy some more leather items. Sell any items you dont need to the npc so you can purchase more leather items or perhaps a better weapon.
Leveling Process (level 6):
Stick to killing budge dragons and spiders for now. This is an important level to gain. Once you have reached level 6 add your points to str again. Now you have enough strength to wear any leather item that the peddler has to sell. Buy what you can to complete your leather set (don't worry if you still haven't)
Leveling Process(level 7):
For the more timid players stick to killing mostly dragons as this will be your main source of exp this level. If your feeling more adventurous try attacking a bull fighter, if they take too long to kill make you have to use more than one aplle go back to your dragons for this level.
When you gain level 7 this is an important point, this is where the different genres of Dark Knights start. You can either be Strength/Power Knight or an Agility Knight. As those names suggest they add more to one stat than another.
Strength Knights:
This is the character I play at the moment, if you dont have alot of help (unlike myself) this can be
difficult as you will have a lower defence than a agility knight of equal level. But you will be able to kill
the same thing faster but will rely on using potions more than an agility knight.
Agility Knight:
this is an easier character to build if you plan on being a soloist for most of your time on MU. You will have a much higher def than someone who just adds to strength. You will kill slower than a str knight but me able to take more hits from the same monsters.
Right, now before you spend your points go to the weapon npc seller and see what weapons are within your range of current stats. Figure out what type of character you want to be, both have advantages and disadvantages. For weapons the ones that require agility will have a higher attack speed so you will hit more often but do less damage, As for the weapons that purely add strength they will hit slower but will have a high damage range.
The leveling Process from 7 till 10.
I'd personally advice for these 3 levels to add to which ever type of character you want to be (either a strenght or a agility knight). In this time you should of aquired some items and a nice amount of zen. Up grade your weapon to suit your style.
Now for strenght knights, if you have got any left over zen look for people that are selling low level leather items. (Eg leather+1/2) These will add more defence than your current set) but will require more strenght to wear.
Once you get to this point you may have heard of or own some items that have +option and +luck on them. Both of these are helpful. The +option items will either add + that much to your defence if its armour or if its a weapon + that much to dmg. I wont go in to much detial about this, as otherwise I will be writing for along time. But one last time +skill you may have seen. What this does is increase the amount of dmg you do buy double. The way to use a skill is to click your right cursor instead of your left when attacking. Your stamina will decrease but will regenerate after time. As for +luck dont worry about the jewel stuff for now as you wont need to know yet. But the critical hit percentage will add +5% per luck item you own. When you critical you will do the max dmg you can deal to that specific creature.
I will add more later to this post but for now I will just sum up the next few levels for you.
Leveling Process 10-15:
You easily be able to kill bull fighters (maybe with an apple if nessesary). Try yur luck with hounds also, but I dont think the strenght knights will be able to kill these without having to heal alot. I for these levels would add to strength again and hope to purcahse leather items from players that add +1/2/3 and possibly even an option. For low level leathers dont be conned in to thinking +luck is worth anymore as the main luck feature is useless on leather.
This is about all I can bring myself to write for now. I will add more later to this Talking about the levels from 15 onwards.
Please give me any advice on anything I may of missed that should be in there, add stuff your self . But please dont flame, this may help you, but its not going to help the newer players that are trying to learn something from this tutorial.
Thanks for reading
