Castle Siege Event on temporary hold

Castle Siege Event on temporary hold

Attention MUtizens-

Unfortunately, we will have to temporarily put the Castle Siege event on hold. The Guilds that spent the SOLs to be in the previous Castle Sieges will have their totals saved and they will be the guilds set in place when the event goes live again. This is an unfortunate measure to have to take, but until the Development team is finished addressing hack vulnerability issue, and all that it ensues, we do not want the players to be frustrated for the next few weeks. It is quite possible that it will take a few weeks to implement the fixes that will remove the DC hack and other recent hacks once and for all. In the meantime, the Castle Siege event will be on hold, with the Guilds that were registered most recently on the list for the next CS. Until then, the [Mm] Guild temporarily assigned as Castle Lords and the Land of Trials is open for all.

This overall upgrade to the game security is a large undertaking and we hope to include the recent issues with the DC hack, the CC hack, Lahap/jewel mixing & dissolving/ and the recent Power Up Shop. Our responsibility as Publishers of the game is to work with the Developers and provide them with everything they need to fix the issues. We at K2 DO NOT independently control anything that has to do with the game coding, as the Developers are the only ones who have that legal right. We are not trying to shift the blame, but many of the recent complaints have been focused on "K2 fixing the bugs" and "K2 stopping the hacks". Yes, it is our focus and responsibility to investigate every aspect of these game issues, collect data, test using our QA team, and provide Webzen (and GameGuard) a detailed report with all pertinent information included. We then monitor and continue collecting data and banning the hacker accounts. Our next step as Publishers is to make sure those issues reported are addressed and implemented on the live server. It is then back under our control to verify that the fix/upgrade did work. We cannot "change the code" as so many PMs to the Admins and Mms have suggested. The vulnerabilities that exist with any game that is more than a few years old make the quality of the Developer fixes outweigh a "quick fix" that will not hold. The recent issues with Castle Siege and Lahap are connected, as they both deal with an overall issue of our anti-hack system in place now. Webzen and GameGuard are working to provide a quality fix that will cover these multiple aspects and avoid the possibility of future hack tool modification, especially with the rapid approach of Season 3.

Updates will follow and will be posted here on the website, on the Forum, and on the game launcher message area. Land of Trials is open for all, and as soon as the fix is implemented and the event goes live again, all guilds that were registered the last two weeks for Midgard and Helheim will show up as registered, with the appropriate number of Signs of Lord. Thank you for your understanding and patience, see you in-game...
