Here you can explore and discover a magical world full of wonders and ancient riddles. Encounter arcane and dangerous creatures and solve the mystery of a long-perished kingdom.

You have access to a dual class system which gives you the freedom to combine your main and secondary class, in order to build your character the way you want conceive it. Learn professions and special skills, to forge mighty armor and weaponry or to enhance them. Accumulate unique in-Game collector's cards, which provide you with information and data of all creatures you have already encountered. Relax after a hard day of labor in your own house, which you can arrange just the way you want to.

On your long journey from a helpless novice to a proud hero you will always be accompanied by magical runes and potent oracles - fragments of the divine book Taborea. Use them wisely for they might also lure you on to destruction. Master their handling and do not repeat past mistakes! Legend has it, that he, who embraces the oracle and acquires its might, will garner absolute power over the future.

It is now up to you, to write the history of the world!"

Character Development

When players reach level 10, they will be able to select a secondary class, which increases the possible class combinations up to 36 individual character types. Within the towns of the game world Taborea, players can switch between their primary and secondary class, which gives them interesting tactical choices about how to approach their next tasks. Consequently the primary and secondary class will level independently from each other. So the dual class system of Runes of Magic functions like two characters in one. From then on, they can level up both independently. At any time, they can decide which to play as the primary, and switch. In the launch version, both can reach level 50. And while they progress, the game will also give them master and legendary or epic classes.

Turning to skills, every character has its own set that distinguishes between general ones like crafting or attack, and class-based primary and secondary possibilities. Characters can access all their main class skills of, but only the primary ones of their secondary class. Reaching a new level grants points that can be distributed to improve attributes; furthermore, new skills can be unlocked. There are also talent points can that used to upgrade individual skills and spells at any time. Players get these by completing quests or succeeding in combat. Crafting and weapon skills like one-handed swords or bows are leveled through use and application during play.

The skills of the six main classes make use of different energy types. Warriors use rage, scouts use focus, rogues need energy and mages, clerics and knights are fighting with mana. Players can apply those energy types independently from each other. Therefore, they can use the dual class system of Runes of Magic to build up specialists perfectly suited for group play. For example, you could create a bombardier with the combination of scout and mage. If the character were to run out of focus (using scout skills), they simply switch to mana and can immediately launch the skills of his secondary mage class. In contrast to that, a combined knight-warrior class is the ultimate melee fighter. But players need to be careful with some combinations: mages and clerics use the same mana pool which can quickly 'dry up' during battle.

Social/Class/Guild Structure

Players can group up with friends/other players to form hunting parties.

Other players visiting your house will contribute to your characters popularity ranking.

A guild system exists in Runes of Magic. Guild war PvP and guild housing in special zones are also featured.

Players can also gain/lose reputation with different factions within the game world, and receive rewards according to the level of reputaion achieved.

At the dawn of time the mighty god Ayvenas created the book Taborea, where he captured the shape of the world: When he thought about plants endless fields of mellow grass and dimly lit forests of gigantic trees almost reaching the sky assumed a definite form. When he wished for a magnificent firmament, the bright blue sky and the starry canopy were born. Despite the world's beauty though, he felt lonely. Therefore out of the fertile soil he created the first human beings... more lore...

Every player can own a house from the beginning of the game which you'll be able to personalize with things such as decorative furniture, treasure chests, mannequins, crafting tools, housekeepers and bonus experience. Other players will be able to visit your house and there will be a popularity ranking system. Houses are instanced and reached by a teleport system rather than being visible in the open world.
