This guide will teach you everything you need to know to create your own movies.
The tools you will need to use:
FRAPS
Open fraps and hit the Movie tab.
The hotkey is the key you hit to start and stop recording.
Check the movie half-size option.
Sound: I prefer not to record any sound. Sound can be added later on. If you do choose to record sound, it will record everything associated to the sound card you chose: vent/ts conversations, music playing, game sounds, and so on.
Select either 30 fps or 29.97, does't matter much.
It end, you will have something similar to the above picture.
You are now ready to record. Just be sure you have enough space on your harddrive. The movie recorded is uncompressed and extremely huge. Minutes = Gigabytes.
Virtual Dub
Once you have recorded you now have a ginormour *.avi. Now we need to compress it. Open Virtual Dub and open the *.avi.
Click Video \ Compression.
Select the Divx Codec and hit Configure. The following options create a decent quality and small size.

You can experiment and play with the settings and see what results you will have, if you really want to.
Now, File \ Save as AVI, or F7 and select the name and path of the file you wish to create and the compression process will start.
If you had intended to compress the sound recorded with your movie:
Before any of these video compression steps, you would have to select Sound \ No Audio.
Then perform the compression for the video. You would need to hit Save as AVI and select the option 'run in batch mode' by checking the box at the bottom left of the dialogue. Then Sound \ Compression, and select Lame codec (if not installed:
http://lame.sourceforge.net/ ) and then save as avi, and again 'batch mode' selected. At the end, File \ Job Control and Start.
My advice is to not use Audio at all in this process. You can add it later with other effects using other software such as Adobe Premiere or even Windows Movie Maker.
This is all you have to know to be able to create movies from any game you wish.
Enjoy!
